World Description: (Original Characters Only)
The world Silas is from was the same as our world until July 16, 1945. No, that's a lie. It was the same from outside appearances. There was magic and power, but it was hidden. The people who had it were in groups, in families or cults. After July 16, 1945 everyone had power. Everyone had a bit of magic. No one could control it very well. In our world, the Trinity Nuclear Tests were just that. Nuclear tests for a later atomic weapon. In Silas' world, the tests tore a hole in the fabric of reality, and gave everyone from Oak Ridge to Los Alamos an ability.
And if the Trinity tests simply tore a hole, then the atomic drops themselves blew the whole thing wide open. A few hundred people before, and now the world. Those who survived, that is. Silas' world is currently a world that has no idea how to proceed. A world where people are given abilities they cannot yet control themselves. The people who will come to power will be the people who can. The families. The cults. Those who had these things before.
The difference between a family of power and a cult is simple. A family of power is just that, a family of people with abilities and magic. Usually fairly large, and biologically related. They go back generations. The Cults are fairly new as of the past twenty years. Groups of 15-50 people around the world and growing. They take in stragglers who have developed powers, and show them how to control them. They aren't good people, and they don't teach the people they take in for the benefit of those people. They only take in those who seem like they'd be useful to whatever goals the particular Cult has. The Ecclesia, who operate a faith healing church, are an example of a Cult. The Gudwgans are a family in Wales with great power to see fate in various forms.
History:
Silas Warren is the eldest son of Henry and Celeste Warren, with one sister (Malinda), age 6. His parents were members of the Monroe-Wallace Circus during the 90s and Silas himself was a member during the Aughts. His father was a fire eater and his mother a faith healer. Essentially, Silas grew up in the circus and in the sideshows. Traveling from town to town. He learned everything that he needed to know about anything he wanted to know from the people in it. His family.
Silas himself has the ability of sonokinesis, meaning that he can control the pressure waves that create sound. He can bend sound, basically. He has a secondary ability in that he can predict death by sensory hallucinations. Guess which one's the most useful in a circus. (It's sonokinesis) For the most part he uses this in the sideshow for voice projection. But it has other uses too.
He's also pretty good at slight of hand, which helps on the midway. After a few years with his parents' circus, he was approached by The Sisters and made a deal to come and work for them for a few years. It seemed a lot more fun than his broken world, after all.
After the Sisters bring the Circus to New Dodge, he decides to sign a, possibly temporary, contract with APS. He finds the town more fascinating than he thought it would be, and he's met a few people he kind of wants to get to know. He may even attempt to bring a few of the circus people with him.
Personality:
When you first meet him, Silas can come off sounding like a total asshole, but it's more of a defense mechanism than anything else. Once you get to know him, he can be pretty nice to you. Helpful and generous. If you're close enough to him, you become family. If you piss him off, well...let's just say his voice can be a pretty effective weapon, and it's not just because he has a biting wit or anything like that.
He's a quick learner, Silas is. And a fast talker, but that comes with the territory of having grown up in a circus in a world where people with real abilities are generally experimented on if they don't register themselves. And no one in the Monroe-Wallace Circus did that.
The idea of going back to his own world terrifies him. For one thing, he's made a family here and a name for himself. The Sisters don't actually tell any of their people about 'fluxing', so when someone tells him about it, he's...afraid of that. One of the reasons he'll be coming here is to see if APS intends to figure out how to stop it.
Going home, the way his world is, is not an option for him.
Silas doesn't exactly have many morals. He won't hurt his friends, his family. But he has no qualms against swindling people, or trafficking blackmarket items. He's very okay with drugs and sex, to a certain limit. The better, the merrier.
Why do you think your character would work in this setting?
He knows the universe, and that's another reason he wants to come here. He can help get New Dodge aquainted with the rest of the galaxy, which could open up tourism and other things.
How do you plan to expand their CR?
Silas is, for lack of a better description, a social butterfly. He can talk to anyone, he WILL talk to anyone.
What will your character do for work?
He is going to open a Tourist Trap and traffic black market (in the galaxy) items.

While everyone else had gone back to the campgrounds, Silas had stayed in town. Hell, he had the day off, so he might as well enjoy it, right? It was a nice day to spend in a small sort of town, and in the evening he could walk back to the campground on his own. Without worrying his parents, without attracting the attention of Samuel Cain. It wasn't even that far. So Silas stayed in town. Chatted up a few of the townfolk, did tricks for some of the local kids who had not yet attended the circus (good advertisement for his parents, right?) and grabbed a soda before starting to head on back.
But it was odd, the way back to town. Everything was so quiet and off. Silas didn't really pay it any mind, at least not until he spun on one heel while walking and saw a car that had driven past him suddenly slow in the road. Suddenly stop. That got him pausing in mid-step just as another car did the exact same thing. Each car the same car. A black and driverless car with a sticker of a black crow in the lower corner of the window.
Something was wrong. Something was off at the camp He felt it in every fiber of his being. Something was wrong. So Silas ran. Ran, and eventually and without even thinking about it, used his abilities to make himself move a little faster. Not as fast as he would like. Not fast enough. But he was just trying to keep ahead of whatever the hell was happening.
Until he saw the flames from the circus. Until he had to stop. Slow. Fall. Scream. Scream loud.
He was out of time. They were all out of time.
